Research was checked through 2026-07-31. Official IMAX and title sources establish network and release facts. Operators, owners, public records, surveys, standards bodies, and trade sources establish local and technical facts. Maintained community databases fill documented gaps.
The dataset contains 300 venues and 72 films, including 73 documented full-height venues and 43 documented film-capable venues. These are dataset counts, not a claim of complete worldwide coverage. Venue dataset
This database prioritizes venues with currently supported 1.43:1 capability, then covers many commercial venues in the United States and Canada and selected notable venues elsewhere.
It is not a complete worldwide IMAX directory, and coverage is particularly limited for xenon-only multiplexes, Greater China, Latin America, Africa, and parts of Asia and continental Europe.
Equipment and programming change, so each record is dated and corrections are welcome.
Each venue carries its own source URLs. Official IMAX and operator material takes priority; community data remains labeled reported, and unknown values remain unpublished. Venue dataset
An official or primary source supports the record. This can be an operator specification, planning document, current IMAX release list, or direct institutional source. Records
A credible secondary source or maintained community record supports it. These entries are useful, but a current primary source would strengthen them. Records
A value was derived, approximated, or inferred. The record must explain the method, and unknown equipment fields remain empty rather than guessed. Records
Primary venue or planning documents outrank copied listings. Direct contemporary sources can outrank later community copies.
When credible values still disagree, the better-supported value is displayed and both remain in the notes. Screen measurements need special caution because sources may describe the frame, usable image, or curve. See the sourced dimension table.
These limits prevent a useful partial record from being mistaken for certainty.
